Windows 2000 Professional
Windows 2000 Professional is one of the best operating systems, Microsoft has to offer for workstations. Windows 2000 is well known for its stability and networking capabilities. It is a network OS with a good GUI and a user friendly interface. Although the system requirements for this OS are quite high, it is extremely stable as compared to the earlier OS's like Windows 9x and the NT versions. Microsoft has ended its long tradition of the DOS environment and you won't find any pure DOS mode in this operating system. Windows 2000 is said to have very good network support and has a plethora of other tools such as Microsoft's Internet Information Server. The interface of Windows 2000 is more appealing than other variants, thanks to small additions like the fade in effects for the Start Menu. The web based look and feel of Windows 98 has been improved and added to in Windows 2000.
